Vision Therapist

Have you always wanted to feel like you’re making a real difference in people’s lives? To work in a supportive environment with room to learn and grow? If you are a natural team player who takes pride in their work, a career at Opto-mization is just what you’re looking for. From helping kids be able to read and believe in themselves, to getting adults back to work and life after a concussion, or giving seniors the depth perception and balance to keep them safe. Every member of our team from our doctors to the admin plays a critical role in helping the people we serve.

About Us: We specialize in Nero Visual Performance lead by Dr. Cameron McCrodan and Dr. Scott Irvine. Visit our website to find out more information on what we are about and also visit the TedX talk “Overlooking our vision” and you’ll quickly see the passion with which we do our work. This is not your typical Optometry office.

Our office is a place we enjoy being and our culture is based on 5 fundamental values:

  1. Team Player
  2. Accountability
  3. Pride & Passion in our work
  4. Humility
  5. Respectful

We are a dynamic company with two locations on Vancouver Island in Victoria and Nanaimo BC. We strive to be the best in vision therapy and have earned a solid and dependable reputation by building meaningful connections with our clients and guiding them through their recovery and growth as a team.

Vision Therapists will work one on one with their clients weekly under the direction of our team of Doctors. Through higher level learning you will assist in the process of re wiring the way a client processes and controls their vision as well as building a strong foundation for continued growth, allowing development in all aspects of the visual system.

We look at how the eyes and brain work together. We do this through examining eye tracking, eye teaming, visual processing (how the brain interprets your vision, such as depth perception and integration of balance) and more. Problems with these visual skills can cause dizziness, nausea, screen sensitivity and more, especially after a head injury. They can also effect reading and learning abilities.

As you work with your clients you will guide them through activities which will teach these systems how to work properly.

Our team of Vision therapists come from a variety of backgrounds from teaching, customer service industry, kinesiology to healthcare. We will provide an extensive 12-week training program to the right candidate, qualifying you for an in-house certification as an Opto-mization Vision Therapist.

To be successful in the role:

You have a positive personality and enjoy working with people and helping them achieve their Vision goals

You are caring and empathetic

You are organized and pay attention to detail

You are goal oriented

You enjoy learning in a team environment and accept and appreciate feedback

If you are interested and feel like you would be a great fit, please forward your resume, cover letter and references along with the answer to this question “Where is our other office located?”
